Putting the Fun in Art Center

Students Zone
For this project, me and my partner Grace Park, decided to do something you would never see at Art Center. As an Art Center student, it is popular belief that we don’t have time to have fun or sleep, or like to read. We wanted to show how each of these things can actually benefit you as a designer. We also wanted to bring a sense of humor to campus. Most of the time we carry ourselves a little too seriously as Art school students. This is the time we should be experimenting and having as much fun as possible with each project. This project consisted of: a Fun Zone, Sleep Zone, and Reading Zone.
is not as Bobby Boucher’s mom would say “the Devil.” Moments of fun
lead to different experiences. Having parts of yourself in your work
leads to original work. Original work leads to standing out. Standing
out leads to big checks and pinky rings.

A wise man once said, “I can sleep when I’m dead.” A wiser man
said,“Fuck that I gotta have my beauty sleep.” Before you wind
up hitting a parked car after your eleventeenth all–nighter, it is wise
to actually sleep from time to time. Sleep improves creative ability
to generate aha! moments and to uncover novel connections among
seemingly unrelated ideas.
Student read a book with little or no pictures in it (I believe at
normal colleges they call that “book learnin’.”) She proceeded
to be inquisitive of the world around her. Little did she know it
would lead to a great idea. We’re supposed to be the people
that make culture, not decorate culture.
Museum of Photographic Arts
The new direction for the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA)
can be described as: Active, Vibrant, and Controlled Chaos. The design is
focused on using these states to present a fresh and new view to our viewers.
The new logo for the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) reflects a lively
viewpoint on the art of photography. It does this by drawing on the
photographic fundamentals of focus, connect, and reveal.
For this project designed materials included:
posters, tickets, show ideas, phone app, website,
t-shirts, gift shop items and environmental components.
Have you ever looked at a photo and thought, "Hey I can do that?"
Well now's your chance. The relationship of amateur and professional
has blurred a lot more in photography than in other art mediums.
But the one thing that truly makes for a great photograph is an image
that stops you dead in your tracks. The YouShow is an opportunity
for the visitors of the museum to be the featured artists. It works by
people sending submissions through the YouShow app in response to
that show's theme. Viewers can see all submitted images in the Viewers
gallery. The images selected by the jurors panel will make it into
the actual show.
