This assignment called to design a poster for the Long Beach Shakespeare Company's performance of
Much Ado About Nothing. Initially, my concept was about opposites that go together. This lead to focusing on using salt & pepper as a metaphor for male and female. I wanted to use interesting photography to show human characteristics in salt & pepper shakers. Although visually interesting, it did not fully relate to
Much Ado About Nothing. After doing more research on the play, the solution revealed itself. The male characters in the play shared a suspicion of marriage as a trap in which husbands are bound to be controlled and deceived. Finding this out, I chose to visually show what a marriage trap would look like. Turns out that it looks a lot like a bear trap.
